Hi,
Very simple question that I failed to find on the internet or the HMC6343 datasheet.
What unit is the magnetic raw value extracted from the register? Tesla? Gauss? mGauss?

I think it’s Gauss, because that’s the only relevant magnetic field unit mentioned in the datasheet https://cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/learn_t … MC6343.pdf
The raw compass values are not accurately calibrated, and there is usually a different offset and scale factor for each axis. You can verify this by orienting the compass in different directions, and noting the readings when each axis is pointing along the direction of maximum magnetic field.
From the fact that the Earth’s magnetic field ranges from about 0.25 Gauss (most places) to 0.65 Gauss (near the magnetic poles), you can estimate the calibration factor. If you prefer different units, the field strength varies from 25 to 65 microTesla.
