sending sketches to a pro mini ...

i have a USB to uart loader with the same chip (silabs 2102)as the sparkfun breakout but its not the ftdi version but from off ebay .

i keep getting a non snyc error message when trying to load a sketch (a check shows it to be a common error )

error is avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00

is this because the pro mini is tricky to load a sketch to ?

i cant find much on the pro mini feedbacks

Could we have a picture or something of the USB to UART module and a hook up so we can see how you have it set up?

wiring as follows

3.3v on usb device to Vcc on pro mini

Rx to RX

Tx to TX

grd to grd

and RST to RST

tried a selection of ports as well

and pressing the reset before and during upload of sketch for x seconds

pro mini board was chosen in the IDE

Flip RX and TX.

TX ->RX

RX ← TX

i tried that and no dice ,the seller recommends the way i quoted to do rx and tx

as the wiring here shown

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1x-USB-2-0-TO … 4096wt_967

heres a youtube vid that shows an ideal hookup

i bought a basic FTDI breakout board and loaded on the drivers and hooked it up to the pro mini and i am still getting the same error message as before

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00

tried changing the baud rate but still cant load a sketch .

its a mystery

Have you contacted Sparkfun about this?

yes they are very helpfull but no solution yet .

i think its got to be the cts and dtr pins ,going to nowhere usefull .

where do these pins have to go on a uno board, i will try that next .

3v and ground is fine,

rx to tx ,or tx to tx and rx to rx ?

cts and dtr connections go to where ?

power is getting thru but theres a sync problem somewhere (red led are on )

thanks
