beginner EAGLE question:
i’m working on an optoisolating board and there are two separate ground connections.
how do i distinguish the two in eagle? is it enough if i add two GND components and name the differently?

Yes, use two different Net Names and they should then be separate on the PCB.
and by Net Name you mean the symbol i can edit when i right-click on a component and select and change its “Name”
