Is it possible that the fee for shipping small packages to Europe has almost tripled? It used to be $3.40, now it’s $9. Or am I doing something wrong?

Yeah, that is correct. I emailed with SFE about it and it was confirmed to me that ‘current shipping fees reflect actual shipping costs better’.
You can also buy from distributor from Europe where the shipping cost is less.
