Simple Weather Logger

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice on my next project. I want to create a simple, solar-powered weather station that logs data to an SD card. So I’m going to need:

Solar Panel

[SparkFun Sunny Buddy

1S LiPo battery

[SparkFun Weather Shield

Data Logger Shield

I have a few questions I’d like to ask:

  1. What size solar panel should I use?

  2. What size LiPo should I use?

  3. I have a Deek-Robot SD Logger shield, but the [Deek Website has no information. Can I stack this shield with the weather station? Is there a better one available?

Many thanks :)](http://www.deek-robot.com/)](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12081)](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12885)

You need to build the weather station and measure the average current drain, before you can estimate the battery capacity and solar panel size.

You will also need to plan for the number of sunlight hours in your area and season (you can look that up on line), plus plan for periods of bad weather/no sun.

This has been done many times so Google can probably find some useful examples.
