SparkFun fun... and dissapointment

First off the dissapointment part isnt sparksfuns fault its mine.

I had all my boards created in EAGLE and of coarse one of my smalled boards couldnt autoroute the traces so i moved on and forgot about it… Big mistake. I was in such a rush to get it done that i submitted the boards with the one with out traces on it… So now i have 10 boards and 2 of them are going to require a little ghetto enginering to make work. I wish sparkfun would have caught it, but i know its not their fault becasue im sure they go through alot of boards and dont pay attention to those things…

So it looks like ill be having another project soon here and including the working version of the boards i made…

This is just a reminder to you all… Triple check all your work even if you know its good… It will pay off the first time you make a mistake.

Whups, I’ve been there too! :stuck_out_tongue: Fortunately I can usually fix the error with some cutting and soldering.

I think sparkfun explicitly says that one reason the pcb service is cheap is that they don’t do as much sanity-checking on your boards as some places do. What you submit is what you get.

ya, well i guess we all make mistakes… Just gives me another reason to make some new boards for another project.

Without seeing your actual Eagle schematics and boards, there is no way for them to be able to tell that you made a mistake from the Gerbers alone. Pretty much all they can do is make sure your drill holes and solder mask match your copper areas.

ya, i know its not their fault at all. O well. for a $5 board im not complaining. I think im going to try SMD components next.
