I recently replace my old GPS breakout with the SparkFun GPS Breakout - NEO-M9N, SMA (Qwiic). The specs indicate a cold start time of 24 seconds. My cold start time is over 2.5 minutes until it returns a valid NEMA sentence (RMC) and over 3.5 minutes until the blue LED flashes indicating locked. Is this normal? It is connected to an Arduino Mega I2C.
The listed specs are for the minimum possible time to first fix, those times can be longer depending on what antenna you’re using and the location you’re in. If you don’t have a great signal, it can take longer to get a fix.
