I have just purchased a SparkFun MicroMod Alorium Sno M2 Processor board to develop a new project.
Now I see it is being discontinued! How can individuals or companies use Sparkfun products if this thing happens? This is the first Sparkfun product I have tried, It could now be my last.
This happens with most all products…we (and most all vendors) eventually retire or update/replace most of the catalog every couple of years, with a few exceptions. It is unfortunate that it was your first purchase of our product, but it’s not really an avoidable thing from our end, y’know? Certain products will get retired, others will get re-designs (as their components themselves become unavailable), so on and so forth
We apologize if you invested significant time or effort :-/
We do offer a 30-day warranty window if your purchase was recent, and if we can do anything else for you at this time let us know
What sort of minimum order quantity would be needed to get another small-ish production run of the Sno M2 boards? 100? 500?
All the design files are on github, but I would definitely prefer dealing with Sparkfun to get more when our current supply runs low. I ordered a batch of ~20 back in April which may last a few months depending on how many orders we actually get in. I’m trying to get an idea how urgently I should buy out the stock from the big distributors.
It largely depends on our BoM stock/availability and their MOQ for something like this, but it would likely be easier to source/build them on your own
