SparkPNT FPX / Ashtech

Hello,

We have an old Ashtech RTK GPS and are considering buying your Spark PNT FPX. I have a few questions that I’m hoping you can answer.

We use our old RTK GPS as a Base and Rover pair to spot the stations for our Geophysics Filed schools. We download the survey and process it.

  • Can one using the Spark PNT FPX mark the stations and later on use QGIS to plot the positions?
  • As I understand, the Spark PNT FPX can receive corrections via BLE, so I can connect a cellphone to it and send the corrections using a nearby NTRIP listed location?

Thank you

Yes, Yes

Please note BLE mode is usually for Apple devices, normal bluetooth SPP is default

Great!! Thank you.

So it is okay if I use the NTRIP from an Android cellphone?

Rago

Absolutely, they work more seamlessly than Apple…check out the Bluetooth section of the guide here and the cell phone section here

Note: the FP devices are very new so they are largely not referenced in the docs yet, but they run the same firmware that the RTK Everywhere manual (linked above twice) covers
