Just wondering if this sensor is suited for sensing smoke or if is for other particle sensing.

well, there is smoke and then there is smoke. It all depends on the material that is burning.

The SPS30 is sensing very well the PM0.5 - 2.5. Tobacco smoke is within that range. The larger PM-values that the SP30 provides are actually calculated using profiles based on the PM 0.5 and PM 2.5 values. (https://cdn.sos.sk/productdata/64/e3/78 … ps30-2.pdf)
