Standalone programming MSP430F2416 by MSP430-JTAG-ISO fails

When I use the interface with the 1.034 dlls and after upgrading the firmware to match, I can download a program to a MSP430F2416 processor on a TI development board, and it verifies ok (using Rowley CrossStudio).

But when I use the interface in standalone mode to read the software into internal memory, the reading takes a very short time (followed by three groups of three red flashes). This seems to be a JTAG error, but there is no reason for it that I understand. (The JTAG cable is the short one supplied with the programmer.)

The MSP430F149 processor in the same setup reads and programs ok in standalone mode with the same hardware.

Programming the target board (as well as the TI development board) using the MSP430-JTAG-ISO also works ok, going through CrossStudio.

I have tried several MSP430-JTAG-ISO programmers with the same results (we have 5-6 of them)

Does anyone have any explanation or solution?

I have the exact same problem (with a 2418). Did you happen to find a solution?

I fixed it by reverting the firmware to an older version using the attached DLLs. I’d post the version but I’m not completely sure.
