Hi,
I am in need of some clarification on how the Arduino/Easy Driver is powered. In this documentation, Arduino Vin is connected to M+ and a 12V source to the Arduino. How is the driver/motor powered if it’s connected to Vin on the Arduino? Thank you.
In that diagram, they just show them connected together. You would also need to connect the power source to the Arduino power jack (the power jack is connected to the Vin pin through a diode for reverse polarity protection), the Arduino Vin pins, or the M+ and Ground pins on the Easy driver.
As long as the grounds are connected together, you could power them separately as well.
Thanks for your response. Just to confirm, aside from the missing power source to the Arduino, is this wiring correct?
Pins 2 & 3 on the Arduino appear to be reversed compared to the tutorial diagram. I can’t really see how the motor is wired. The battery should be connected to M+ and Ground, not where it is currently connected, which is an output.
This page has more info on the Easy Driver.
Is this correct (power and ground connections)? If the battery is only 9V could that be why it’s not working?
Yes, certainly could be…9v batteries can only push like half an amp
Take a better photo(s) that actually shows what connections are made if you want further help
I changed the battery and it started working, thank you! For future reference however, what battery source would be able to provide 12V+?
A 12 volt battery would be able to supply 12 volts.
