Suggestion for small break-out boards

If there are no more than 8 or 16 pins needed to interface a sensor, it seems it could be made into a DIP package pretty easily. It would make using sensor break-outs much easier because they could fit into a standard 8 or 16 pin DIP socket.

That might be convenient in some ways. I don’t mind the SIP format Sparkfun has been using for most of the ones I looked at though. I can just solder some pins into the holes and they work great on a breadboard or in female pin-header sockets.

Not that I mind the idea you’re getting at, just wondering what exactly is significantly better than what we have now. Do you have a particular sensor or complaint?

Well, for one, there is support for the other side of the device if all the connections are on one side. This is true of both the [[Honeywell Compass](http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=7915) and [[3-Axis Accelerometer](http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=692) I have. I'm also thinking of easily stuffing these into a circuit board, as well as using them on a solderless breadboard like I have (Global Specialties PB-105).
