Switching regulators from dimension engineering

Any chance of SFE distributing something like the DE-SW050 from Dimension Engineering?

It’s essentially a drop in replacement for an LM7805 (linear regulator) but is switching so won’t melt when you have to step down a high input voltage.

Seems like the kind of thing a lot of hobbyists would go for, and their international shipping rates are too crazy for me to order directly from them.

Their shipping seems quite cheap… out of curiosity what country do you live?..

Sparkfun could do a lot cheaper using some of National’s or ONSemiconductor’s parts…

Nice idea there for Sparkfun though.

I would rather see SFE come up with their own designs.

The DE ones are incredibly noisy…

ebay has lots of linear regulators which cheap shipping. Check it out.

Good idea.This is new concept.

Also someone get rid of this stupid spambot.

I think the point is to use a switcher, not a linear. There are many cases where a linear won’t work well. Even at modest current draw a linear will require a heat sink when the voltage drop is large enough.
