Does anyone know of a small and/or cheap PLM board for hobby work?

I’ve researched a lot and found some that plug into the wall for X10, Insteon, and others. But I have not found a tiny IC/Board that would allow me to build it right into my device.

I’m playing around with Insteon and X10 right now and want to make a Ceiling Fan controller. I have found a chip that would get me most of the way there, the HCPL-800J from Avago Technologies.

Ideally, I would want a tiny board that included the PLM and a Power Supply So I could use it to transmit/recieve signals and power my circuit.

Any ideas?

you can build it yourself - look on the Microchip website for an app note with X10 in the title. it’s a complete X10 based controller. You can pull out the pieces you need. I don’t know how small you can make it since it relies on a lot off passives for the filtering.
