This looks nearly perfect for what I need (battery powered, high current 5V source). If it came on a board suitable for soldering some wires or screw terminals to it would be perfect.

Page 21 of the data sheet shows the pads on the back of the device. Just solder wires (or wire-wrap pins) to those pads.deflater:

I don’t relish the idea of soldering wires to all those little 1mm x 1mm pads.
Worst comes to worst, that’s what I’d end up doing and then maybe epoxying the whole thing down to some stripboard so that the wires dont break or pull off the pads.
