Can someone recommend a small and cheap AC to DC module.
I would like to go from 100VAC-240VAC down to 5VDC @ 1 amp or near.
I would like to make a breakout board to power an Arduino board.
This would enable me to hardwire it instead of using a plugin adapter.
Please let me know if anyone has a schematic or can send me a link to a solution.
Thank you
Cell phone chargers from the thrift store are the perfect answer. For a buck or two you can get a nice regulated 5v switching power supply.
I have looked at using cell phone chargers and will probably use that as a plan B.
I am looking for something like model PD05-20B05 found here. Something I can solder to a PCB.

However these are not cheap nor readily available. Something I can buy from the US would be great too.
Any ideas?
Maybe something along the lines of these?

I’ve used the Bias parts. They worked well. No idea on availability.
edit: and if you’re looking for cheap I suspect the wall wart route will be the way to go. Baordmount AC/DC modules are not a very standard item, so the wall warts will most likely dominate in price due to the volume in which they’re manufactured.

Thank you for the information and links.
These are more along the lines of what I was looking for.
One disadvantage with this method is having 120VAC exposed on your breadboard. Use caution.

These work quite well, available in 3.3, 5, 12V versions others available too

Usually in stock at Digikey
If you need more power Cui has some bigger ones or Cincon modules which are open frame available at Mouser

As has been pointed out, very high voltages are exposed even with the potted modules. so BE CAREFUL.
