Transceiver 2.4ghz with PC serial port

Hi,

I am planning a project to communicate my AVR based device with PC on a wireless link. I find Transceiver 2.4 ghz (SKU#: WRL-00151) to be a good option for this.

My question is how to connect this transceiver module to the serial port on PC. I hope this is just a pin to pin mapping.

thanks,

Neeraj

You need a micro-controller to interface it to a serial port.

Thanks Leon,

Can you point to a schematic that would help me in achieving this?

Neeraj

Here is my schematic:

It includes an ICD 2 connector for debugging and programming the 18F4520.

The PCB is single-sided and easily made at home.

Of course, you could interface the MiRF V2 to an AVR and interface that to the PC in the same way.

plug and play as you wish, can be done with

maxstream’s XBee ($20)

or equivalent and interoperable modules from several others.

Search for 802.15.4 modules. not chips.

And you can omit the ZigBee complexity- it’s an optional network layer.
