Trouble Connecting to BlueSMiRF with Galaxy Tab 10.1

I have Amarino-Toolkit (http://www.amarino-toolkit.net/) running on my HTC Thunderbolt (Android 2.3.4) and on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Android 3.2). I have a BlueSMiRF Silver (RN-42 module) configured and working on an Arduino Duemilamove.

I can pair the BlueSMiRF and the Thunderbolt successfully, but can only pair the Galaxy Tab with the BlueSMiRF. For some reason, I can’t get it to connect.

Is anyone else having similar issue, and maybe a solution or explanation? Thanks for the help!

Matt

I had this same issue with an old Android phone when I was working on a bluetooth hack, I have no idea why. It works great on my Galaxy Nexus, but I was helping someone out and it would not talk to their phone beyond pairing. It also wouldn’t even pair with their rooted nook. Do you have access to logcat to look at some of the messages?

Thanks for the suggestion! I just installed CatLog on the Galaxy Tab, and recorded a session as I tried to connect to the RN-42. Now I just need to skim the results to see if I see anything.

I’m also in contact with Roving Networks, seeing if there something wonky in the firmware.

Thanks again!

UPDATE: Sent the RN-42 module setting and version to Roving Networks, who tells me the firmware is old. They were able to replicate the problem I was having using the old version. Unfortunately, the firmware is not field-upgradable (bummer), so the module is heading to RN. I’m just hoping they can do the upgrade with it still attached to the BlueSMiRF board.
