It seems I cannot upload, so USB/340 is almost certainly the issue.

I believe SVL is not installed when product is shipped, but for completeness
SVL:
Phase: Setup
Cleared startup blip
Failed to enter bootload phase
Target failed to enter bootload mode. Verify the right COM port is selected and that your board has the SVL bootloader.
There are many articles on this forum about CH340 driver and the solution. Try a to do a search
EDIT : just saw the other post you did around the same topic. As the echo worked, the driver seems to be working.
Next to that with an EDGE there was often the problem that the upload sequence was not completely followed. (as defined on https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/pr … or-success)
Press and hold the Reset button
While still holding down the Reset button, press and hold the 14 button
Release the Reset Button
Hit Upload in the Arduino IDE (or use your keyboard shortcut)
Release the 14 button (after the upload has completed)
