Hi,
I am attempting to use two BOB-10124’s to have two arduino uno’s communicate long distance. I am slightly confused on the wiring, my understanding is as follows:
Arduino(s) to BOB-10124:
RXI to Arduino TX
TXO to Arduino RX
RTS to Any Arduino digital pin (HIGH for transmit, LOW for recieve)
BOB-10124 to BOB-10124:
A to A
B to B
G to G
Also,
What is the maximum transmition distance of a BOB-10124 and is there any modification that I can make to extend the transmition distance?
Thanks
Hi Samuel,
You are correct in regards to the connections for the input/output on the RS485 converter breakouts. As for the maximum transmission distance, I’m afraid we do not have any solid data for that as it depends on a lot of things. Things like connection and wire type affect the signal degradation over long distances so you can try and mitigate that by using things like shielded wire to help reduce that. I am not aware of any modifications you could do to the breakout to increase that transmission distance, unfortunately.
