Using the servo pHAT as a Qwiic-controlled device and not as a HAT.

I need to control 2-4 servos inside of an RF isolation box from a pi that lives outside of that box, and I’ve got a limited number of signals I can pass through.

I’m already using some qwiic devices in there, so it would be fantastic if I could control the servos over the qwiic line I’m already running in there.

Can I use the servo pHAT as… not a hat? I’m assuming I’ll need to power it separately, but that’s not a problem, there’s already a power strip in there.

I guess my real question is: is the qwiic connection on this pHAT bidirectional? I know the pHAT already is controlled by I2C by the pi, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work, but maybe one of you has experience or could test this and save me some money and headache.

I was looking at the zio qwiic-compatable servo controller, but it can only deliver 25mA to the servos, and would require a separate driver to provide more power, which I’m trying to avoid as I have limited space inside the box. Also it’s not in stock on SparkFun and limited stock on digikey, so I’d like to avoid using that if possible in case it’s EOL.

That should work fine
