Venus GPS chip

I am working with a Venus BOB and my FPGA board, my UART is working well enough to start testing when I get a battery hookup.

My objective is a handheld device that reads how far I have walked from the point I started from. Do you think this can give me something like…

“You are within 25ft of start”,“You are within 50ft of start” …75ft. 100ft and so on

or will it be more like "You are with 50ft, 100 ft ,150ft, 200ft.

I am also wondering about what I will get from the “course over ground” function, if be thrilled with getting North, east, south west out of it and will that be relative to my walking, or the orientation of the device.

Whats your opinion base on your experience with this?

Basic assumptions are, outside, rural or forest area Northeast America, and working/playing sometime between breakfast and lunch on a sunny day.

i havn’t got my venus yet but from what i noticed from other GPSs is that the direction(N,S,E,W) is relative to the direction you are travling and not the orientation of the device.

and for the other question im not 100% of what u are asking but it looks to me like your asking on the data output witch after u get the data then you can chose how to display it.

hope that helped

I am pretty much going to record the coordinates at point A and walk away from point A. I shall then walk back towards point A and have on the LCD how far I am away from point A. I was wondering what sort of precision I may get to that.
