I am attempting to use the VL53L1C board with Qwiic connectors on an Arduino board. I am using to the examples provide for the Arduino to verify the board is functioning. When I compile and download any of the examples, the example announces that the Sensor is online (implying the I2C communications are functioning). However the distance is consistently -1 and the Range Status from example 3 is 255. There are no other devices connected to the Arduino. I’m not certain what the next steps in trouble shooting the issue should be; any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks
Is there a sticker or any plastic film covering the sensor in the middle of the board? If so, remove that and see if things begin working.
Hi, there is no covering or plastic film over the sensor. If it is helpful, when example 3 is run the Signal Rate is -8 and the frequency is either 200 or 166.67 Hz.
It could be a bad board, if you made the purchase from a distributor of ours just contact them and let them know you have a defective part and they should be able to get a replacement for you.
If you purchased the board directly from SparkFun, just [fill in this form with your order number and the URL to this forum post and we can get you hooked up with a new one. :-)](Return Policy - SparkFun Electronics)
Thank you very much. I will follow up with the local electronics shop where I purchased the sensor.
