Wanting wireless digital video tx, wimax?

I’m looking to do wireless video transfer and would really prefer to have digital if given a choice. I’m hoping to eventually put this in an RC airplane, and would like not to spend enormous amounts of money for transceivers. I’ve been doing some research, and it seems that the best compromise between speed and distance is WiMAX.

Now, from what I can tell, there isn’t much done so far with WiMAX, so I’m not sure anyone here can tell me if this is a good idea or not; but I wouldn’t be against building my own breakout board if it’s well documented and not too difficult.

Does this sound like a good idea? Or should I just stick with ADCs & DACs? Or should I just forget digital, and stick with analog? :-/

WiMax is not similar to WiFi. It’s intended for carriers and service providers.

There are two flavors: 802.16e mobile WiMax which is what Clearwire(sprint) and others are doing; 802.16d is entirely different, rather proprietary.

Best way to get video from an R/C airplane is simple analog video sender/receiver.
