Coming back to the Amp, I’d like to share how I solved the setup now:
- As base I use the Micromod Mainboard + Teensy processor + the PoE Ethernet board to power-supply everything solely by an Ethernet cable
- Along with other Qwiic devices, the Wav Trigger Pro is connected and powered via Qwiic
- The Qwiic Amp is connect too via Qwiic (for configuration), but I did not cut JP1, so power supply must happen externally, not via Qwiic. I did this because the other Qwiic devices need a stable power supply and I ran into troubles with loud sounds + other Qwiic devices behaving eratically then
- I solderen pins onto the Micromod mainboard VBAT/GND and did not connect a LiPo battery. On VBAT/GND there are 4,2V coming in via the PoE Ethnernet board or via USB. The Amp is powered by this.
- The Wav Trigger Pro uses the modified firmware described above with half the clock speed. It stays “touchable” cool and works without problems. I assume it also needs less power because of the lower clock speed.
Everything works nicely and no crashes with that setup.
