Wavtrigger with 4 sensors glitches! need help!

I have 4 IR Sensors connected to my wavtrigger.
I use an external 3V power supply for these sensors.

Sometimes it works quite fine sometimes the sensors seem to interfere with each other and switch their functions.

Like: Sensor 1 Starts a Loop, Sensor 2 is programmed to the stop function. This works fine.
I have the same settings for Sensor 3 and 4 and this doesnt work.

Further more: if I hold down Sensor 4 - Sensor 1 and 2 will switch their functions, whats quite shitty because its start and stop.

On the wavtrigger I have only connected the 3,5V output of the sensors to the triggers - the GND on the wavtrigger is left free. Do I need to ground those to my power supply?! Or to the intern GND?

Im working on a 2 player pinball machine for a childrens museum and the exhibition will start on Sunday so im quite in a hurry

greetings -joh

Ah… left to say…
If i hook up buttons to the same connections only changing the programing from active to contact closure it works fine. so its NOT a soldering or programming issue. had this talk before

The ground for the sensors and power supply for the sensors needs to be connected to the ground on the WAV trigger. Try this first, it might clear up most of your issues.

You’re going to need to figure out how to correct this otherwise you will continue having troubles.

Share a photo of the wiring, preferably with both IR and button configs

The trigger-side GND connections on the WAV board should connected to whatever is triggering the device/closing the loop (usually buttons, in this case the IR sensors) WAV Trigger Hookup Guide V11 - SparkFun Learn

oh my gosh! you solved and rescued my life within like 10seconds.
just connected the GND of the power supply to the board (not just the sensors) and works fine.

thank you so much!!!

" Also set trigger 5 to the hardware interface of “Active 3.3V/5V” used for when we connect microcontrollers or sensors. Remember to click Add after setting up each trigger to add it to the configuration. … To simulate a microcontroller, connect Trigger pin 5 to the 3.3V pin on the side of the board and track 5 should play. Just be very careful not to accidentally connect 3.3V to the GND pins."

Glad I could help!
Happy hacking and have a happy Thanksgiving!
