Weather Meter Kit SEN 15901 vs SEN 08942

I have a Weather Meter Kit SEN 08942 that I purchase in April of 2014. It is beginning to show its age with the plastic drying out and becoming brittle . The anemometer stopped and after an attempt to clean it (without opening, it just blowing it clean) I am not sure that it is in “like new” condition. I noticed that there is a direct replacement for it (on ‘sale’ at $76.95) or an upgraded version SEN 15901 (for $64.95).

  • What are the differences?

  • Can I use the upgraded version as a direct replacement for the older version?

Hi Phil.

The old an new weather meters are almost identical except for the rain gauge. The new rain gauge has a small lip around the top portion of the funnel that directs water into the sensor. Both are electrically the same, it’s just a small cosmetic difference.

The reason for the ‘new’ meters being less expensive is that we get those from a different supplier and they charge less so we’re able to pass the savings along.

Two perfect answers! Thanks.
