Website is non-functional

When selecting a category like “Sensors”, the page loads but there’s a translucent overlay and a progress spinner that spins indefinitely. I cannot interact with any of the elements in the page. Thus I have not been able to make a purchase in at least a few months.

I am using Firefox on Windows 10 + uBlock Origin + PiHole. I have not attempted to diagnose the problem further because I can shop at Adafruit, Digikey, Amazon, and AliExpress just fine and I’m content to keep spending money there instead of selectively enabling spyware.

It’s gotta be something in your settings, the website is working just fine for me. I very highly doubt there’s any spyware on sparkfun.com other than the usual statistical stuff any commercial website does normally. Maybe someone at sparkfun can look into it for you though and offer advice on how to get the website to work with your setup.

We definitely aren’t running spyware lol. Firefox is (oddly, considering its history) an wildly insecure browser these days…personally I use Brave (head fella used to run Mozilla) and have never had a problem. Also, no youtube ads, pop ups are automagically disabled, etc

I’d guess something in the pi-hole is timing out/not resolving?

Your welcome for taking the time to report a problem that’s preventing me from giving you my money.

And about 10 others are blocked by uBlock Origin. I haven’t bother looking what’s blocked upstream at my PiHole. These are data harvesting platforms. Ostensibly they provide anonymized metrics, but this data is aggregated and de-anonymized. I know what I’m talking about.

Firefox is insecure? Instead of pulling factoids out your ass or shrugging off a report of a longtime customer being unable to purchase anymore, how about actually looking into the problem? My configuration isn’t rare, especially for your target demo.

It’s not my job to troubleshoot your technical issues. I will not be looking into it any further and am happy to keep spending my money elsewhere.

There’s certainly a lot to consider, and site compatibility seems to be a major issue…but it’s all personal preference

I certainly don’t claim to know what I’m talking about, but FireFox (especially on windows) is a rough compared to something like Brave (OG Mozilla founder! Has to update a lot though) for me

The other post also had some suggestions that may help; I downloaded Firefox and tested it on our site and everything worked normally for me.

Appreciate the feedback!
