Mostly a fun synonym that sounds like “Quick”, but Quad Wire I2C, with rapid/quick connectivity, would be my supposition
Has better density than the Grove Connectors
It’s a portmanteau from “Quick i2c” 
As a former Philips Component / Semiconductors guy I also appreciate the “ICK” for I2C…
