What is zigbee!?

Hi,

I’m interested in getting into zigbee, though I have to say I do not know much about it.

So here it comes:

  1. Here is a broad question, I do not need a very detail answer though: what is zigbee?

  2. The Xbee modules seem to be the way to go with microcontrollers etc… How do I connect my laptop to zigbee? I’ve seen serial/usb adapers for Xbee, can I find a USB key that does zigbee?

  3. I have a zigbee device in my house. How do I connect to it? Is there any password or key to provide when connecting to a zigbee device?
