Until this thread, I had no idea that Arduino.org even existed. I have and always will support and buy products from Arduino.cc. I have yet to buy an Arduino Uno from Sparkfun, so I guess I never will since they sell Arduino.org boards… The Sparkfun manufactured boards, I will gladly purchase.
I only recently purchased my first Arduino (Sparkfun Redboard) in order to bump up my order total to get free shipping. While trying to download the IDE, I ran into the .CC vs .ORG fiasco and eventually learned about what’s going on. The .ORG guy did some pretty shady things to the rest of his business partners and doesn’t deserve any support from the community in my book. Needless to say, now that I understand the dynamic between the two Arduino worlds, I will make sure my money only makes it to the .CC side of the equation.
