Why sometimes the SparkFun 6DoF IMU Breakout - ISM330DHCX (Qwiic) are not detected?

Hello, I connected the sensor to a Thing Plus ESP32-S3. Sometimes the “Did not begin.” message shows up on the Serial Monitor. Is there a problem with the sensor I got?

One time it worked and then I got the error message. Then, I unplugged the cable and connected it to another QWIIC connector. It worked for a while and then returned that “Did not begin” error again. As it is brand new, there is no loose of connection.

Don’t hot-swap qwiic devices…unplug the Thing Plus from its power before altering the wiring schema

Thanks for the advice. So how come I got the “Did not begin” message even before I unplugged it?
