Wild Thumper 6WD Motor Issue

Hi, so last night I was tuning my Wild Thumper 6WD and I launched Basic Micro Studio for the robot, for some reason 2 of the motors have died. On one side of the rover my wheels work fine and run at full speed (all 3) on the other side only 1 wheel runs at full speed and 2 others are just completely dead. (middle and back wheel) Now the middle wheel has an encoder, its this motor from Pololu https://www.pololu.com/product/2273/resources

Now a few things occur.

  1. When measuring the power on the rails, the working wheels pull more than the ones that don’t work.

  2. To move the other 2 wheels they need to be nudged to start moving or start at a higher speed.

  3. The wheel thats not working with the encoder still counts, when they do start together the broken one always shows an encoder value of half of whatever the good encoder is showing.

I did add a fuse to my battery now, I doubt thats the problem but that should also be mentioned.

I’ve ordered a replacement motor and I will replace the other non encoder one with a spare.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I will attach a video and photos when I get home.

Hi Rafcin,

What type of driver are you using to control the motors and what type of battery are you using? Did you have the motors wired up in the standard configuration (2-sided control) or have you modified that? Photos and a video will be very helpful to identify what might have caused the issue here.
