Will this damage the EasyDriver - Stepper Motor Driver

I’m thinking of driving this SparkFun stepper https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9238 with this SparkFun Stepper Driver.

My setup will only have the stepper moving an arm in one direction though. It will return to it’s home position through the assistance of a spring. During the return the stepper will be generating a voltage that will get fed back to the driver.

Will this damage the driver?

If so how might I remedy it?

Any advice appreciated!

There should not be any problem. This motor and driver together have been used in this tutorial: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/ea … 1641299999

Yes I have seen these 2 components being used together just not in a situation where voltage will end up getting fed back to the driver because the stepper will end up acting like a generator.

Not sure if the driver circuit has or needs any protection built in for this type of operation.

I do not recommend using our stepper motor driver in this manner as the feedback may damage the motor driver. Stepper motors are not really designed to be torqued and rotated this way and all shaft output, or input should be executed via the driver itself.
