Hi All,
Maybe this is how the unit is supposed to behave or maybe I am missing something, but I have been very unimpressed with the performance of the XA1110 Titan. I consistently get out of order sentences as seen in the NMEA log attached. In addition, my estimated position error goes up to 7 meters when driving at moderate (40-50 mph) speeds. Finally, the updates come in erratically, not seeming to happen at a set frequency.
Is this usual behavior? I am reading this over the serial port. Any way to get more consistent GPS updates?

Hello, and thanks for your post!
Where in your car do you have the GPS module and is the board facing up? Your data looks like you’re getting bad reception. You might try putting the module on your dashboard where the glass and dash meet with the antenna pointing up to the sky and see if that helps improve the data.
So the module is mounted under the vehicle, but I have run a u.fl to SMA connector to the SMA antenna that is also for sale on sparkfun. This antenna is mounted at the base of the front windshield.
Perhaps there is a need to set a setting to enable the u.fl antenna and disable the on-board antenna?
OK, I suspect that the Titan X1 isn’t detecting the external antenna and is attempting to use it’s own. We’re looking into this right now and I’ll get back to you soon.
