Does anyone know if the frequency for the XBee Pro 900, sku: WRL-09097, can be specified? It is stated that it operates on 8 hopping patterns on 12 channels or single channel and between 902 - 928 MHz. I don’t see any place in X-CTU to specify this. I tried changing the Hopping Channel but that didn’t do what I wanted. I am trying to use a 900MHz video TX at the same time as the XBee but get a lot of interference. Anyone have any info on how to specify certain frequencies for the XBee 900?
Thanks
I’ll speculate:
The US and Canada’s 902-928 unlicensed band government regulations require frequency hopping for high duty cycle transmitters.
The Digi hopping sequence has a several variations of hopping channel order (a hopping “set”) - this is chosen using the “HP” register. All radios in one logical network need to use the same hopping set but nearby independent networks should use a different set so as to minimize competition for air time.
So apparently you can control the choice of set but not the frequencies within the set.
I did a 900MHz project with Alvarion’s BreezeNet 900 - 2MHz signal, hopping. Same reason.
So every nth data frame sent may fall in the frequency range used by your video system.
Perhaps Digi will tell you the frequencies used in some or all sets, and you can see if you can find a set that’s compatible with your video system. The video sender is probably 6 to 10 MHz wide and the band is much wider, so there’s hope that you can move the XBee and/or the video transmitter’s frequency choices. Or you can use a spectrum analyzer to measure what frequencies are used.
