Does anybody know if this returns the current number of xbee children joined to the device or if it returns the available children.
I have seen comments on this board saying it is the later but xbees documentation claims the opposite.
I have issued a ATRE and after that the ATNC command returns 8. If the device thinks that the number of children is 8 then that is what my problem is because apparently you can only have 8 devices on a PAN, correct me if I am wrong.
What is the Firmware version running on the XBee?
This will allows us to look in the correct document and/or try this with the same code as is running in your XBee.

Is this ZigBee series 2 or series 1 with simple 802.15.4?
