Hi,
Please pardon any breach of etiquette. I’m new here, and new to many of the things discussed here as well.
I’m starting with the basics. I have acquired two XBee-PRO DigiMesh 900 units, which I believe are best suited for my intended project. The units are the ones shown at http://www.digi.com/products/model?mid=3088. They say “Rev A” on the PCB and “Rev E” on the sticker on the bottom.
I’ve also acquired two XBee Explorer USB units from SparkFun. This is the one shown at https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8687.
I see in the notes that:
A pull-up on DIN is required for this board to work properly. Thankfully, Series 1 and Series 2 XBee modules have their internal pull-up enabled by default. You will need to manually enable the pull-up on the 900MHz series.
I’m not sure whether the XBee module I have is series 1 or 2, but it is 900 MHz. Can someone explain what, if anything, I need to do to make sure the radios work with the XBee Explorer? I don’t want to mess anything up.
Before I move on to more complex tasks (actually using the XBee with an Arduino), I want to plug each XBee (via the XBee Explorer) into a PC and confirm that I can get them communicating. This is the approach that was described in the “Building Wireless Sensor Networks” book.
Thanks in advance!
