XBee Pro S2B and XBee Explorer Dongle

I’m trying to use the above combo of components and not getting very far. I’m new to XBee (and embedded development) so it’s possible I’m doing something stupid.

I’ve been communicating with Digi but their suggestions haven’t really helped.

with the XBee plugged into the Explorer and that plugged into the USB port I’m just trying to execute some basic instructions. I believe the XBee is in API mode and Digi suggested I need to re-write the firmware, but I’m having difficulty doing that.

Using X-CTU, with settings 9600-NONE-8-NONE-1, Test/Query communicates with the XBee, but the Modem Type and Firmware version are unknown.

I try to re-write the firmware, using “Modem Configuration” with Modem type XB24-ZB, and Function Set “ZIGBEE END DEVICE AT”, version 2841, when I perform a write, I get “Getting modem type…OK, Programming Modem…Los communication with modem, Write Parameters…Failed”

I’d be grateful for any suggestions!

Thanks

Griff

Have you tried downloading the latest firmware packages from the Digi site? The XCTU firmware database on your pc might not be up-to-date. On the “Modem Configuration” tab use the button on the far right “Download New Versions”. A small window pops up asking for the Update source. I suggest “Web”, which allows XCTU to download them directly from the Digi site. Your firewall might ask you for permission though.

Thanks, yes they are up-to-date.
