Xbee Series 1 line passing

Both modules are using firmware 10E8.

After dozens of failed configurations, my latest attempt is to follow exactly the directions at: http://www.digi.com/support/kbase/kbase … sp?id=2188

To summarize:

Sender

DL = 0x1234

MY = 0x5678

D3 = 0x3

D4 = 0x3

IC = 0x18

IT = 0x2

IR = 0x32

Receiver

DL = 0x5678

MY = 0x1234

D3 = 0x4

D4 = 0x4

T3 = 0x64

T4 = 0x64

IA = 0xFFFF

Both modules have 3.3V connected to pin 1, ground connected to pin 10. I put a voltmeter on pin 17 (AD3) of the receiver, but I can’t get it to change from ~0. I’m putting 3.3V on pin 17 of the sender, I’ve tried connecting 3.3V to pin 14 (VREF) of the receiver, or leaving it unconnected.

I thought this was supposed to be simple, but I’m tearing my hair out. I’ve tried everything that makes any sense to me, and a lot of things that don’t. So, starting from this basic setup, where do I need to go from here?

Thanks!

I should mention, I searched the forums here and at Digi, and googled “xbee configuration”, “xbee setup”, “xbee line passing”, “xbee troubleshooting”, “xbee faq” and “xbee tutorial”. I tried every possible solution I found in the first 2 pages of each search, to no avail.

are they on the same channel and pan? in xctu iirc it’s the first two options in modem configuration.

Yes. After messing around with the settings for so long, I thought it would be best to restore them both to defaults. The only changes I made thereafter were the settings listed above. So the channel is C, and the PAN is 3332, for both.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Do you have the XBee user/OEM manual? It's well done. About 100 pages.

Are you referring to something other than the one sparkfun links to? http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Wire … Manual.pdf
