Xbee+Shield+AdruinoUno

Hey guys!

I have an uno, XBee, and Xbee shield and want to the Xbee to send True or False to my computer (a webpage–isn’t there an open webpage that I can stream data to somewhere?) based on if the LED is on or off (with LEDBlink program modified).

Since the Xbee comes with default configuration settings I should be able to set the correct COM, and baud and my computer connect/recognize the Xbee but when I plug my arduino in with the Xbee shield and use my IP scanner I don’t see its IP address show up anywhere. Where is my understanding wrong?

Did you do X-CTU Configuration?

See: http://ftp1.digi.com/support/documentat … 1003_A.pdf

I tried but my Xbee isn’t showing up–I should be able to just connect with the default configuration settings but the the test query doesn’t work. (see pic)

I don’t have the explorer for configuration. I just have it plugge into my arduino but was under the impression I could just use its default configuration settings and connect to it.

Right Click on “My Computer”, Click on “Manage”

On the left menu under “System Tools”, Click “Device Manager”

Under “Ports”, What do you see? (you should see Arduino Uno and your XBee with signed COM ports"

If not, then the drivers are not installed… if so, try re-installing them and see what happens.

Also you can re-assign the XBee to a different COM port by right clicking on it > Properties > Port Settings > Advanced.

Only the UNO(COM3) comes up in my device manager so I reinstalled the drivers (the one ones for windows7 at the bottom of the page http://www.digi.com/support/productdetl … s=358&tp=1) and put them in the drivers folder where my UNO drivers are located but am still only seeing UNO show up in my LPT+COM

The Xbee is connected to the computer through a dongle or through the arduino?

through the arduino–see pic.

The pic does not show up… at least not on my computer.

So you should ask SparkFun tech support in that case because there might be a firmware problem in the chip.
