I need to build usb explorer for the xbee.

Right now, at home I got max232 chip. Is this the right chip? What the diffrent between them ft232 and the max232?

ft232 chip is for USB to your PC
and the max232 chip is for asynchronous serial to RS232 on a PC COM Port.
