I have tried to download numerous zips files from your site. They are all corrupt. I am using WinZip 8.0 to unzip. I even tried PKZip with no luck. I am able to unzip files from other sites.
I am trying to unzip the following files:
SparkFunEagle-11-03-09
I tried to unzip the older version with no luck
I running Windows Vista.
Note: I was just able to download and unzip SparkFunEagle-6-6-07 version but not any of the new ones. The new ones are corrupt.
Can everyone post which browser that they’re using [that doesn’t work]? I think the SFE IT guys could probably help more if they knew what you all had in common.
When I downloaded any of the SparkfunEagle files and try to extract them using the Windows extraction program I get the following error:
The compressed folder is invalid or corrupted.
I believe all these SparkFunEagle files have gotton corrupted. I have used an XP and Vista system and get the same type of results with different versions of IE.
I just went to the Logomatic V2 Serial product page using IE8, and tried to open the Eagle files. I get a message box telling me they cannot be opened, and are corrupted. Then I saved the compressed folder for those files, which worked fine, but when I tried to open that compressed folder, I got the same error message.
Then I went to the same page using the Chrome browser, and clicked on the Eagle files link: they opened up without a problem. I’ve tried several of the other Eagle files through Chrome, and they’ve all worked.
Again, I’m using MS Vista on this computer. I have no way of testing other OSs or browsers.
Edit: More specifically, I’m using Windows Vista Home Premium, and IE8.0.6001. That’s what is not working here.
Just tested it on IE; the issue seems to be IE specific. The same machine can download it fine on FF. From a quick view with a hex editor, the file appears to have been saved gzip-encoded.
I’m firing up my packet capture tools, and I’ll see if I can figure out whats going on. I’m guessing its some weirdness to do with mod_gzip and on-the-fly compression.
EDIT: seems to be an IE bug regarding zip files being doubly compressed for transit using mod_gzip. AFAICT the workaround is to use another browser until SFE disables mod_gzip for zip files. That said - this is an IE bug. [Also, don’t use IE right now, there’s a published unpatched code-exec bug out there]
