64x64 Panel Not Working

I’m trying to follow along with the tutorial here:

https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/li … rt-display

but the LED Panel is not lighting up. I am using the following power supply and have tried both powering the ESP32 separately and off the same supply.

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15352

When the panel arrived, one of the leds had come off. Would that cause the whole board to not work? Is there something I can do to easily validate that the board is working?

The only other thought/concern I have is the tutorial vaguely says “You’ll then need to connect much of your color data to the output port.” I have the connections hooked up from PI to PO as described in the table and the connections from PI to the ESP32 as described in the table. Are there other connections I need to make?

Hi, thanks for writing in.

An LED falling off is certainly and issue, though, I feel like I have seen these panels work with a failed LED before. I suppose it depends on how the LED failed and if it is shorting something important.

Go ahead and file a return ticket and we can take this case from there. Just fill the form out on the right and submit:

Adding photos of your setup and the damage on the matrix will be very useful.

We hope to assist you soon!

I couldn’t get the images to upload, but I put them on a public google drive folder:

If you have problems/questions or want a clearer shot of anything, I’m happy to help. Thanks!

Hmmm, I regret to say that I have not tried to interface all of the products in the Live spotify tutorial before and I am uncertain what the issue may be. All I can suggest is that you double check your wiring, confirm continuity in wiring and confirm your power supply is supplying enough power. If it seems like everything is hooked up right, it could be the 64x64 matrix.

What I can do is take your panel back for testing and test it against our tutorial here as we have it setup and can confirm that the 64x64 matrix is not the issue:

Let me know what you would prefer.

I think that I should send it in for testing since I don’t have the other items that would be required.

Excellent, it looks like we have initiated your return on our end.

Let us know if we can do anything else.
