I have been trying to follow the tutorial for a live Spotify matrix here https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/li … rt-display. and following this guide https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/rg … okup-guide for testing my matrix.
I do not have an identical 64X64 LED matrix that was used in the tutorial. I have followed the wiring diagram and have guessed the rest of the pins like it has been suggested by Engladsaurus, and I have not had luck. I do not see any of the LEDs lighting up. I have gotten the code to work on the ESP32 Thing so I do not know how to proceed. I have tried to follow other tutorials to see if the matrix is operational but they do not have any wiring for ESP32 Things. Could there be an update to the tutorial that is compatible with the matrices that are sold by Sparkfun, or a wiring/test code for the 64x64 matrices to see if the matrices work as they are supposed to?

Unfortunately, we cannot help you troubleshoot an LED Matrix that we do not sell. You will want to check for documentation from the company you purchased the matrix from for help identifying the pinout of your connector. Try and find any markers on the connector that would indicate the polarity of the connector or where “Pin 1” is.

I did buy these matrixes from sparkfun, from the link they have on the tutorial. It seems that they used a previous version?
Okay, I am now pretty confused as to what is going on here based on your posts. We only carry the one [64x64 RGB LED Matrix Panel and that is the exact same as the one used in the tutorial. We have not carried different versions of this matrix so is this the RGB Matrix you have? If not, please point me to which LED Matrix you are connecting to. Also, your wording of “guessing the rest of the connections” is concerning as there is no guessing going on here. The pin tables in the [Hardware Assembly section of this guide are all you need to connect. By connecting other things randomly you may have damaged the panel. What power supply are you using for the display? If you purchased that from SparkFun, please specify which one you have. Otherwise, please provide either a link to the power supply you have or its specifications.
Please try following this tutorial exactly and making only the connections listed on the two tables between the two ports and your ESP32 Thing. Finally, to get a better idea of your circuit, can you please take several photos of your matrix, the port connections and the connections to your ESP32 Thing and attach them to your reply.
