Accuracy Accelerometer MMA8452Q

Hi everyone,

For a project I need to measure the interference of vibrations of a table during an experiment. I was wondering whether accelerometers like MMA8452Q are accurate enough to measure this. In the Data sheet it says that the accuracy is 2.64%. Does this mean that the accelerometer could give an acceleration of 0.00100234375g when it is infact 0.0009765625g and 1.0264g when it is actually 1g. Do you think that this accelerometer will be accurate/sensitive enough, or should I use an industrial accelerometer.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Thomas Cheng

What magnitude of acceleration do you expect the vibration table to produce, and at what frequency?

Don’t know how much accuracy you need but keep in mind these are < $13 parts. If you’re looking for high accuracy it’s going to require more money.

Indeed, they're, at best, only 12 bit outputs and that's in across both directions of a given axis.
