Arcs in EAGLE

A couple of questions:

I want to make a part in EAGLE like this:

http://www.gutwin.org/wheels.png

They’re a bunch of circular contacts (the entire area in the circle is not covered by mask) that make up a rotary encoder.

I’m having two problems, though. The first is that when defining a library part in EAGLE I can’t seem to make EAGLE recognize that I want the curved sections electrically equivalent to some SMD pads that are hidden under the traces. In the Layout editor you can use the NAME command to name a trace the same as a predefined signal, but that doesn’t seem to work in the Library editor.

The bigger problem, though, is that when EAGLE renders the arcs to a Gerber, they come out as many little lines with an aperture of 6 mils. Obviously this is a problem for the BatchPCB DRC bot. Aside from tweaking the aperture directly, is there any workaround to this (or some way to fix the bot itself? )

Thanks,

-Karl

I could not see anything obvious to control the arc simulation by eagle.

maybe you should ask in the cadsoftusa forum.

I think you have hit on an Eagle limitation as far as the library editor is concerned. I don’t think it is going to do what you wish. However, that only means that it will generate DRC checking errors which you can ignore. I would use the Eagle forums to varify this and to ask your Gerber question. -Good people over there.
