Arduino Shield for the Pro Mini

An adapter board that will convert a standard 5V Pro Mini (or 3.3V) into the standard Arduino Uno shield layout.

The shield should include a built in FTDI adapter and voltage regulator so that it functions just like an Arduino Uno. The Pro mini could clamp down using special connectors or use pogo pins to make the electrical connections. There should be a switch between powering the board with 3.3V or 5V (applies to the FTDI also). The input and output pins should be left alone and not include any logic level shifting.

I’d also like to see more of an “ecosystem” for the 5V Pro Mini, kinda like what’s available for the Microduino. Some of the things I’d like to see are:

  • An Arduino shield interface, so a Pro mini can use “regular” Arduino shields

  • A stackable headers package for the Pro Mini (two 12-pin headers, plus one 6 pin header)

  • A version of the Pro Mini with stackable headers built in

  • A 9V barrel jack power shield (so the Pro Mini can be powered by a 9V power supply)

  • A USB/FTDI shield
