Asset Tracker Not Recognized by Windows via COM port

Hello,

I have a Sparkfun Asset Tracker board that suddenly stopped being recognized by my computer via the usb cable. I’ve been playing with this board, programming it, via Arduino IDE 2.0 for a couple of weeks, and suddenly today my computer won’t acknowledge it when it’s plugged in.

My computer is a Windows 10 desktop.

The driver doesn’t show up in the device manager when I plug it into the USB slot. I’ve tried rebooting the computer. I’ve tried pressing the reset button on the Asset tracker. I also tried the reboot button.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to solve this one?

Thanks!

…John

Looking at the schematic, it appears USB is handled by the processor board you have attached to the asset tracker board. It might be possible to recover the processor board but since they aren’t too expensive you might grab another and see if that gets you running again in the meantime. It’s a whole lot better than replacing a $150 pcb anyway.

Hello,

Are you saying this means that the processor board died?

I’m using a samd51 processor board.

Possibly, or it might be stuck in a state where USB is broken.

YellowDog,

Thanks for the help!
